Ann Katherine Christ

Ann K. Christ Ann Christ died peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, September 29, 2012. Ann was born October 19, 1929 to Matt and Mary Masic in NE Portland, joining her sister Dorothy (11-16-1927). Three years later, their little sister Nancy was born (02-23-1933) to make the family complete. Dorothy, Ann and Nancy all graduated from St. Rose Catholic School and Grover Cleveland High School of Commerce. Ann graduated from Commerce in 1947. Ann married the love of her life, Henry G. "Hank" Christ, on August 19, 1950. Ann used her secretarial skills from high school working for Dougherty – Cole, W.L. May Company and Pan-Am in Miami, Florida, while Hank was stationed in the Air Force from 1950 – 1953. Hank and Ann returned to Portland and had three children: Matt in 1954, Mary Lynn in 1956, and Mark in 1961. Ann and Hank were very involved in raising their children, attending baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, football, track and swimming events. As members of St. Stephen's Parish in SE Portland, they helped out with the various Church and School fund raisers and enjoyed very much, the wonderful friends they made. In 1969, Ann began work at the Hawthorne Fred Meyer and retired in 1985. Hank joined Ann in retirement in 1989. They enjoyed 13 wonderful years of retirement together traveling to Europe, South America, and visits with their son, Matt in Miami and the Florida Keys. They loved their visits to the Cook and Hawaiian Islands, especially. Hank and Ann celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2000 with an extended family weekend celebration in Lincoln City. Hank predeceased Ann in 2002. Ann is survived by sons, Matt of Miami, FL, Mark (Jan) of Vancouver, WA, and daughter, Mary Lynn Lines (Steve) of Milwaukie, OR. Ann was a beloved Grandmother "Gangy" of Julie and Matthew Lines, Laurie Hunt, Shannon Foster, and Brittany Ann Christ and Great-Grandmother of Emily Hart (Joey), Lindsey and Nolan Hunt. A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Providence Hospice, 6410 NE Halsey Street, Suite 300, Portland, OR 97213.
