It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Annetta Riley Burke, who departed this life on July 22, 2024, in Kathleen, Georgia. Annetta’s bright spirit and generous heart touched the lives of many over her 78 years.Family and friends will gather to honor her life during visitation at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, July 25, 2024, between 2:00-4:00pm. A celebration of life will follow at 4:00pm in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will immediately take place at Parkway Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
She was born on July 14, 1946, in Byrdstown, Tennessee to the late Cecil Riley and Mary Sells Riley. Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her siblings: Harold (Geraldine) Clark and Nellie Lane. Retiring after working 32 years at Anchor Glass, she dedicated her life to caring for others, embodying the role of a true caretaker. She never met a stranger. Annetta could always be found spending her time with friends and family, traveling wherever the road led, gardening and canning, ceramics and a variety of handmade crafts. She was a member of the Warner Robins Moose Lodge and enjoyed participating in crafting activities at the local Senior Citizen Center. She found joy in helping others and made many lasting friendships through her service and generosity.
Annetta was a beloved spouse of 56 years, surviving through the love and companionship of her husband, Larry Burke. She was a devoted mother to her children: Marty Riley, Kenneth Newcomb, and David (Joanna) Newcomb, who will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy extends through her grandchildren: Scott (Jennifer) Lang, Jason (Suzie) Newcomb, April (Nelson) Ramirez, A.J. (Lindsey) Newcomb, and Paula (Brock) Glenn; along with her great-grandchildren: December Bosquez, Natalie Lang, Maddox Glenn, Owen Lang, Blake Glenn, Alexia Ramirez, Alex Newcomb, Kinley Glenn, Cammie Glenn and Dixie Newcomb; siblings: Glenn Riley, Jay Dee (Genelle) Riley, Frank (Sheryl) Riley, Lynda (Jim) Dalton, and Lynnette Silvers, as well as a host of extended family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Heart of Georgia Hospice, reflecting Annetta’s lifelong commitment to caring for others. Annetta Riley Burke’s spirit of kindness, generosity and ambition will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
