George "Jerry" Chester

George "Jerry" Chester, aged 85 and formerly of Merchantville, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 31st, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home.
Jerry was born on May 20th, 1939, in Berlin, NJ. He attended school at the Allen Military Academy in Texas. Jerry proudly served his country as a Marine before embarking on a career as an ironworker in Local 399. His dedication and strong work ethic were well known among his colleagues. Jerry's infectious laughter and quick wit brightened the room and made him a favorite among his friends. He lived a vibrant life filled with passions for gambling, horse racing, good whiskey, and sunny beaches. Jerry loved to have a good time and always found fun wherever he went.
Jerry is survived by his loving children, each a testament to the different chapters of his life: Jerry Lee (Wayne) Winslow , Gerald (Heather) Chester , Bethann (Jim) Ackerman , Sterling Sheehy, Lenny Dalhquist, and Gerri Hammer. He is a cherished grandfather of 14. Beloved companion to Renee Hale. Brother to David (Betty) Chester and Raymond Hubbell.
Jerry is predeceased by his dear wife of over 40 years Bobbie "Clum" Chester (2013) and his brother William Hubbell.
Jerry will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his love for his grandchildren, and his passion for the things that brought him joy. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jerry's Celebration of Life on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. A viewing will be held from 10-11am at McGuinness Funeral Home, located at 573 Egg Harbor Rd, Sewell NJ 08080, with a funeral ceremony at 11am. Entombment will immediately follow at Eglington Cemetery & Mausoleum in Clarksboro, NJ.
