Dennis (Denny) L. Davis

December 18, 1942 - September 21, 2024

Dennis (Denny) Lee Davis went to be with the Lord September, 21, 2024 surrounded by family members after battling dementia and kidney disease.

Denny was born on December 18, 1942 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Dean Ellis and Betty Irene (Sherwood) Davis.

He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961 where he was an All-Conference 3- sport athlete, class president, homecoming and prom king and lived up to his Dennis the Menace nickname. He went to college in Pella, Iowa on a basketball scholarship for two years before being drafted to the Vietnam War and joined the Navy.

He served four tours on aircraft carriers as an ordinance specialist with a squadron of A4 jets. He earned a nuclear weapons top secret clearance as an E5 Petty Officer and was awarded The Navy Achievement Metal for heroic devotion to duty.

Denny met Elaine (Beyer) in Fresno, California and they were married in Minnesota on September 23, 1967. After his honorable discharge, they moved to Colorado in 1968 where they opened a concrete construction business in 1973. Denny’s incredible work ethic and integrity (not to mention people just liked him) laid the foundation for d.l.d. concrete’s success. He poured concrete all over Elbert, Douglas and Arapahoe counties until he retired in 2011. Every slab lived up to the company slogan "Guaranteed to Crack".

Denny and Elaine lived in their home in Parker for 48 years and raised four children: Rhonda, Mindi (Shaun Loewen), Randy (Danielle Castellón) and Missy (Ryan Nyeholt). He spoiled seven grandchildren: Alexander Denny (15), Calvin Alberto (12), Devany Marie (10), Amaya Elaine (7), Amos Lee (11), Ezra Dean (9) and Cora Lynn (7).

In the mid-1980’s the Davis family helped plant Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church where Denny served proudly in many roles. He traveled to Croatia, Mexico, The Dominican Republic, and to several Gulf Coast communities for hurricane relief.

Denny loved fishing, camping, sports, classic cars, playing cards, coaching and always had his witty remarks to keep things light and fun. He chased his kids around the globe and spent his final years content at home, enjoying Friday pizzas with the neighborhood guys and fishing at Aurora Reservoir. Denny was a friend to everyone, willing to lend his hand whenever needed, and a great storyteller (some of his tales were even true!)

Denny is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, brother Dean Larry (Jan Davis), sister Dawn (Roy Wesenberg) and brother Greg (JoJo Davis) and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dean and Betty Davis and his beloved step- father Ernest Bates.
