Wayne Elmer Martin
October 11th, 1938 - October 13th, 2024
Wayne Elmer Martin was born on October 11, 1938, and went to his heavenly home on October 13, 2024, at age 86. He was the firstborn son to Mildred (Febock) Martin and Elmer Martin who resided in London, WI. He grew up in London, WI with his brother Gordy Martin, and sisters Marge Erickson and Deb Braatz.
Wayne married Donna (Hansen) Martin on August 29, 1964. He lived out his married life of 60 years on a farm outside of Waterloo, WI. He devoted his career to agriculture, graduating from the University of Wisconsin Platteville with an agriculture major, and teaching high school agriculture at Milton High School. He became an accomplished agricultural salesman for Wayne Feeds serving farms across Wisconsin for 28 years. He continued his passion for agriculture by retiring to crop farming with Donna on their own farms.
Wayne loved sports. He played college football for UW Platteville and then for the Madison Mustangs. He was a devoted fan of Wisconsin sports, especially the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. He loved to play golf with his friends and family.
Wayne was a devoted Christian man. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, was a member for his lifetime, and served in active roles as a leader in the church. He served his community in many ways including town of Lake Mills chairman, board member of Greenwoods State Bank, and board member of the Kroughville Cemetery.
Wayne loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, laughing and reminiscing and talking about sports. He was full of humor and a fun-loving spirit.
He is preceded in death by his mother (Mildred) and father (Elmer). He is survived by his wife Donna, son Todd Martin, daughter Jill (Martin) Wattles, daughter-in-law Jacqui (Wilke) Martin, son-in-law Kevin Wattles and his five grandchildren: Michael Martin, Kortney Wattles, Sydney Martin, Josh Wattles, and Jason Wattles.
We will honor his life with a service to be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Deerfield, WI (138 Cty. Hwy. Rd. BB, Marshall, WI). A visitation and luncheon will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service to be officiated by Pastor Scharrer at 12:30 p.m. A private burial will be held after the service. We welcome all who knew him to join us to remember him. Memorial donations can be made in memory of Wayne to Lakeside Lutheran High School.
