Miok Jeannette Humme
April 18th, 1958 - October 5th, 2024
Miok Jeannette Humme, age 66, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Saturday October 5th, 2024.
Born in Seoul, South Korea April 18th, 1958 as the youngest of many siblings. She moved to the United States at the age of 12 with her parents and sister and attended Santa Rita High School and then the University of Arizona. She met her and married her husband in Tucson, Arizona and started a family, giving birth to two children, her daughter and son.
She was a devoted mother, ensuring her children had support with their education while often studying at nights to obtain her own educational achievements. She started her career as a medical laboratory technician in 1989. She eventually graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology in May of 1997 and found her passion in helping others start their families. She spent the better part of her 30 plus year career as a clinical embryologist. She worked as a laboratory director and supervisor of andrology and endocrine laboratories, most recently working at the Southwest Fertility Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
In her personal life, Miok loved cooking for the ones she loved, often finding a way to share her culture through homemade Korean dishes. She also loved to travel and experience nature, having extensively traveled throughout the southwest of the United States on various vacations. Whether she was hiking a mountain in Korea with her mother, sister, and daughter; watching the bioluminescent waves in Manhattan Beach with her son, or hiking through Colorado with her sister and two grandchildren; she loved being able to explore nature with the ones she loved. She always had a positive outlook on any adventure and a smile on her face.
She is survived by her husband Mike Humme Sr., their two children Mandy and Michael Humme, her two siblings Annette and Carter Volle, and her beloved grandchildren Mackenzie and Mason Black. She is preceded in death by her parents Chester and Ok-Yon Volle.
Viewing is from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday October 19th at Bring’s Broadway Chapel with services following at 11 am. The burial will follow at All Faiths Cemetery with a reception to follow at Christ Lutheran Vail. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arizona Burn Foundation.
