Eileen T. Muetzel
September 18th, 1938 - October 15th, 2024
Eileen T. Muetzel (Skluzacek)
Passed away on October 15, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in New Prague, MN, and raised on the family farm in Lonsdale, MN, in a family with strong Czech roots and Catholic faith. Eileen attended Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, MN. She quit her job to follow her passion to become a teacher, paying her way to earn a three-year teaching certificate from Mankato State. She worked for three months as a teacher in Bloomington, MN, before taking a 16-year leave to raise her family. She went back to school at the University of St. Thomas to earn a bachelor’s degree and started teaching again at St. Peter's in North St. Paul.
In 1958, Eileen met the love of her life, Ray, at the Kato Ballroom. They were married on July 9, 1960. Together they raised six children. They shared a love for traveling, playing cards, and creating an amazing family retreat on Shirt Lake.
Eileen was strong in her faith and spent many hours volunteering at church and participating in Bible study groups, where she made lifelong friends. She had a strong desire to make the world a better place and was a role model for all.
Most importantly, family was her top priority. Eileen was always there to support her children and grandchildren, and she spent countless hours attending their activities. She loved any time the family gathered, whether it was with the Muetzels or the Skluzaceks.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Ray; children Randy (Pam), Jeff (Jodi), Julie Conway (Jeffrey), Lisa, Steve (Tricia), and David (Kristie); 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings Ted, Tom (Val), Don, Gene, Kathy (Mike), Diane (Michael), and Father Mike. Preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Cecilia; son-in-law Eric; sisters-in-law Pat, Camille, and Dorothy; and brother-in-law Dale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church, 1757 Conway Street, St. Paul, MN 55106. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the service at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon. https://youtube.com/live/65TIJq2w0s4?si=u7aSZ9DTwaLqCsLi
