Joseph K. Moore
January 16th, 1934 - October 18th, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph K. Moore on October 18, 2024 while surrounded by his family. Joseph was 90 years old, a devout Catholic, beloved husband, patriarch, proud veteran and a longtime resident of Haverstraw N.Y.
Affectionately known as Joe, he was born in the Bronx, NY on January 16, 1934 to John and Anna (Schloemer) Moore. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S Army and while on leave in August of 1954 Joe came home and married the love of his life, Eleanor Bainton. Together their journey began with a strong faith in God and love. They built a beautiful life raising seven children, twenty three grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Dad/Grandpa (Joe) was the shining light of the family and would always take the opportunity to share his thoughts, a prayer or a joke. He dedicated countless hours to making memories with his family, always prioritizing God and Family above all else.
After serving his country Joe started his career at AT&T and remained there for 35 years. Throughout his career Joe was a problem solver in his many roles of project management and data communications. His personal traits of a strong work ethic and a comfort in making decisions served as life lessons instilled in all of us. Joe’s deep rooted faith in Jesus led him to serve as a Eucharistic Minister. He devoted much of his time throughout his life to his parish St. Peter’s in Haverstraw and his community. He had many talents and skills, often self-taught and had a knack for tackling any challenge that came his way. When there was music playing, you would find Joe dancing up a storm and getting everyone to join on the dance floor. He was always the life of the party, a man who enjoyed being with people having fun with family and friends. He was an ace at handball, horseshoes, basketball, card games, chess and most recently spent hours beating all in his intense tournaments of connect four. He was an avid gardener, hiker, painter, and an aquarist.
Joe is survived by his wife, Eleanor and his children, Joseph (Barbara) Moore, Christopher (Christine) Moore, Theresa Moore, Jean (Thomas) Davis, Stephen (Barbara) Moore, Robert (Theresa) Moore, and Maryann (Daniel) D’Angelo. His Grandchildren Adam (Erin) Moore, Alexander Moore, Arianna (Andrew) Dobroski, Katherine (Christopher) Elia, Alessandra (Mikhail) Marshall, Christopher (Jenna) Moore, Jennifer Davis, Kimberly (Joseph) McKenna, Thomas Davis, Matthew Davis, Meghan (Matthew) Vayner, Lauren Moore, Daniel (Nicole) Moore, Scarlett (Ryan) Moore, Savannah Moore, Ashton Moore, Tristan Moore, Isabella Moore, Miranda Moore, Sawyer Moore, Landon Moore, Haley Aliseo, Sydney Aliseo and Alex D’Angelo. His Great Grandchildren Jaxson and Addalyn Moore, Bentley, Logan, Kinsley and Parker Moore, Alexander and Thomas Elia, Logan and Luke McKenna, Callum Vayner, Jace Moore, Eleanor and Alexander Moore. Joe is also survived by his siblings, George Moore and Ann Jones along with numerous nieces and nephews.
