In Loving Memory

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Yamil José Martínez on October 16, 2024. His journey through life was marked by the love he gave, the joy he shared, and the lasting impact he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Yamil’s vibrant spirit, warmth, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

Born in Venezuela on April 24, 1972, to Asunción Soler de Martínez and Hector Yamil Martínez, Yamil was the eldest of three children, sharing his childhood with his beloved siblings, Dahomey Martínez and Hector Enrique Martínez. Yamil embraced life with enthusiasm, excelling in athletics, particularly his love for soccer, which he played semi-professionally. He cherished the beauty of his homeland, spending time on Venezuela’s stunning beaches and discovering new cultures through his love for travel.

In 2002, at the age of 30, Yamil and his wife Sandy Querecuto embarked on their path to building a new life in the United States, with their eldest daughter, Sofía Martínez Querecuto. Years later, they welcomed their second daughter Chloe Martínez Querecuto in 2009 and their son Logan Martínez Querecuto in 2010. Together, they built a beautiful life for their family.

Yamil’s professional journey was one of perseverance and success. With determination and hard work, he earned his Broker’s license and founded his own real estate business, helping families in the tri-state area achieve their dreams of homeownership. His honesty, dedication, and commitment to his clients were cornerstones of his business, enriching not only their lives but also the community he so dearly loved.

Beyond his career, Yamil’s heart extended to humanitarian efforts. He was actively involved in missionary work to improve education for children in Cuba and partnered with Habitat for Humanity to support those in need. He was not only a businessman but a man who believed in giving back and making the world a better place with selfless acts. He loved playing with his children, going camping, riding his motorcycle, and spending time at the lake with his family. Yamil enjoyed hearty steaks, early mornings, watching Real Madrid with Logan, going to the movie theater with Sofía, and having tea with Chloe.

Yamil was and will always be a special person to everyone that he crossed paths with. his good humor, optimistic nature, and jovial spirit made him a loved member of every community he had ties with.

Yamil is survived by his three loving children, Sofía Martínez Querecuto, Chloe Martínez Querecuto, and Logan Martinez Querecuto, as well as his wife Sandy Querecuto. He is also survived by his mother, Asunción Soler de Martínez, his father, Hector Yamil Martínez, his sister, Dahomey Martínez, and his brother, Hector Enrique Martínez.

Yamil's life will be honored in a private Celebration of Life Service that will be held at 11:00 on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Pierce-Jefferson Lambeth Chapel in Greensboro at 300 W Wendover Ave, Greensboro, NC 27401.
