Jose "Louie or Luger" Luis Lucero
July 1st, 1942 - October 16th, 2024
"You will always be in my heart...because in there you are still alive."
Jose Luis “Louie/Luger” Lucero, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished brother and uncle, as well as a retired Navy Veteran, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on October 16th, 2024. Born July 1st, 1942 to the late Jose Hilario Lucero and Marie P. Lucero, Luis “Luger” spent his life in dedication to his family, community, and values. He was known for his steadfast spirit, hardworking nature, and an enduring sense of humor that brought warmth to every room.
Luis “Luger” grew up in a large and loving family, where he embraced both his responsibilities and joys with equal enthusiasm. He was a man of great resilience and determination, characteristics instilled in him by his late parents, whose guidance and support shaped his strong work ethic and deep love for family.
Luis “Luger” was a proud father to LouAnn Lucero Williams, son-in-law James Williams, and step-father to Angela Gallegos and Dennis Duran. His joy extended through his grandchildren, Donald Garcia and Ruby Williams, as well as his many other step-grandchildren, and great-grandchild, Ariana Garcia, as well as many other step-great-grandchildren, whom he adored, leaving a legacy of love and memories for his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted siblings: Richard Lucero, Carlos Lucero, Eugenio “Geno” Lucero, Laurence Lucero, Vangie L. Lucero, Eloy Archie Lucero, and Eluvinia Ida Myers.
Luis “Luger” was preceded in death by his father, Jose Hilario Lucero, and mother, Marie P. Lucero, his siblings Margarito Lucero, Lilian Lucero, Ruby Ann Lucero, and Jose Hilario Lucero, as well as his step-sons Leroy Mascareñas and Richard Paul Duran and step-daughter Rachel Pauline Duran.
Luis “Luger” will be remembered for his warm spirit, his enduring love for family, and the countless memories he created with those who knew him. His kindness and strength will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
May he rest in peace, reunited with those who went before him, and forever be a guiding light for those he leaves behind.
All services will be held at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church at 9502 4th St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. Tuesday October 29th, 2024 we will have a rosary at 6:00 PM and on Wednesday October 30th, 2024 we will have the funeral mass at 9:00 AM. There will be a gathering and meal at the Parish Hall at 11:00 AM. Please join us in celebrating the life of Luis “Luger”.
