James Wallace McKinney, Jr., 73, husband of Adele Herald McKinney, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024. He was born in Bonny Blue, Virginia on December 26, 1950, to the late Janell Johnston and James Wallace McKinney, Sr. Mr. McKinney was a long-time member of Nicholasville Methodist Church and worked in sales for Marathon Petroleum.
Besides his wife, Adele, those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Janell (Michael) Shaner; sons, James “Jimmy” Wallace (Penny) McKinney, III., Marcus (Marc) Herald (Katherine) McKinney; sister, Roxanne (Billie) Blankenship; brothers, Richard (Connie) McKinney, William “Bill” (Loretta)McKinney; grandchildren, Logan Shaner, Sydney Shaner, Alexa (Nico) Benge, Maddison McKinney, Sophia McKinney, Josiah McKinney, Isaac McKinney, Nathan McKinney, Malachi McKinney, Lydia McKinney; and one great grandchild on the way.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McKinney is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jean Overstreet.
Visitation is planned Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 3-5pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 4, 2024, at Nicholasville Methodist Church, starting at 12pm, followed by graveside at 2pm, Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville, KY. Casket bearers include Daron Willis, Kenny Embry , Brian Denger, Josiah McKinney, Isaac McKinney, Nathan Mckinney and Logan Shaner. Honorary Pall Bearers will be the remaining Grandchildren: Alexa Benge, Nico Benge, Maddison McKinney, Sydney Shaner, Sophia McKinney, Malachi McKinney and Lydia McKinney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Manna Meals Ministry (Nicholasville Methodist Church). Contact the church for donation options.
