Myrta Alice Guerra
May 12th, 1955 - October 29th, 2024
Myrta “Alice” Guerra, age 69, of Colorado Springs, died unexpectedly on October 29th after a brief illness. Alice was born on May 12th 1955 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Angel and Alicia Olivera. She graduated from Towson State University with a degree in elementary education. After roles in various public schools aiding children with disabilities, she most recently worked for over twenty-five years as a server at The El Paso Club.
Alice was the beloved wife of the late Juan Guerra and the devoted mother of two sons, Juan-Carlos (Barbara) and Anthony. She was known for her vibrance, her handmade crafts, and her dedication to the Post 101 VFW Auxiliary where she spent many years volunteering, was a lifetime member, and was recently elected Junior Vice President.
Alice had a warm and welcoming spirit, always ready with a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. With a big heart and generous nature, she reached out to strangers, befriended the broken, and made each person feel seen and valued. Her loving personality and caring soul left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She is survived by her long-time partner David Benavidez, her brothers Angel and Ruben, and her sons, Juan-Carlos and Anthony, along with five grandsons.
She is preceded in death by her parents Angel and Alicia and her husband Juan.
