John August Zarro

John August Zarro, passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2024, he was only 58 years old.  His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.  

John was born in Far Rockaway, New York. He grew up in Cedarhurst, New York and attended Lawrence High School.  He later attended St. John’s University and was a volunteer firefighter for Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department.

John was a beautiful soul who touched so many lives with his kindness. One of his favorite passions was photography. He found comfort in capturing landscape photos and loved Arizona. One of his favorite places to visit was Pennsylvania Dutch Country. He was an avid New York sports fan, loved the Yankees and Rangers.

We will forever remember his humor, smile, laugh and kindness. We love you! 

John is survived by his mother Katherine Zarro, his children John Tyler Zarro, Matthew Christian Zarro, grandson Jayden Dean Zarro and former wife Joan Zarro. Forever remembered by his sibling Michele Tilden, brother-n-law Thomas Tilden, niece Alana Tilden and nephew William Tilden. He is also loved and remembered by his aunt Geraldine Castrovilla, cousins Nicholas and Jonathan Castrovilla, and his lifelong friend Gene Panerillo. Many other extended family members and friends loved him dearly. 

John is proceeded in death by his father John Ralph Zarro, uncle Dominick Germano and uncle Anthony (Butchie) Castrovilla.

The funeral mass will be held on November 15th at 10:00am St. Juan Diego Catholic Church, 3200 S. Cooper Rd., Chandler, AZ 85286.  Father Daniel McBride will be officiating the service.  The celebration of life will be held on November 16th at 11:30am Sal’s Gilbert Pizza 1150 S. Gilbert Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85296.
