Michael Menard was born on January 27, 1952, in Concordia, Kansas. He was the second child of J. Earl and June Rossiter Menard. He died October 24, 2024 at the Medical Center of the Rockies.

When Michael was just a toddler, the family moved to Colorado, first in Sterling before settling in Loveland.  He had special memories of living up the canyon and at Sylvan Dale.

Growing up in Loveland, Michael pursued his passion for music as a member of a rock band called The Journeymen, performing throughout the area and traveling as far as South Dakota. His love for sports was equally strong; he played softball for many years, even sponsoring his own team, The Little Rascals. He also played for the Office Lounge team, where he met his future wife, Nancy Bublitz. They were married on March 31, 1984.

Michael was known for his remarkable work ethic and keen eye for detail, traits that served him well in his career, from his foray as a realtor, setting tile, or building custom homes and unique commercial properties, especially in Estes Park. His dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting impact on the community.

A true Colorado sports fan, Michael enjoyed cheering for all the local teams and held season tickets for Colorado Rockies Hockey and Baseball. He loved football whether it was the Denver Broncos, CSU or CU.  He enjoyed playing golf as much as he could, when he could. He had a passion for cars—particularly fast ones—and often joked about the ones he wished he had kept. He was a devotee of the National Hot Rod Association and enjoyed watching drag races, as well as being a member of the Northern Colorado Classic Cruisers car club.

Michael was a proud Lifetime member of the Elk’s lodge, joining over 50 years ago.

Michael shared a wonderful life with Nancy filled with adventures as he patiently put up with her shenanigans. He loved road trips, camping, and exploring the mountains. Some of his favorite memories were made during fishing trips in Alaska, vacations to Mexico with friends/family, a lengthy road trip to Canada and a Spring training golf trip in Arizona. His favorite trip was a European River cruise.  As well, he enjoyed their recent foray into Snow-birding in Casa Grande, AZ.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law & father-in-law, his sister Patricia, and his brothers-in-law, Russell, Dale and David, and his niece Claudia. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy’s siblings and their spouses, numerous nieces and nephews, Godchildren, cousins, dear friends and his cherished dog, Gracie.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the teams at Medical Center of The Rockies, particularly the Interventional Radiology Unit and the 5th floor progressive unit, for their exceptional care.

In honor of Michael’s memory, donations may be made to the Wild Animal Sanctuary and Refuge, The Arthritis Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, Meals on Wheels or a charity of your choice.

Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Loveland, where Michael and Nancy married 40 years ago. It will be on November 25th at 11 am with a reception following at the Loveland Elks lodge.
