Betty Rourk Saulisbury

Betty Rourk Saulisbury, 95 of Charleston SC. Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday November 6, 2024. She was Born in Charleston, South Carolina on November 9th, 1928, to Gussie Walling Rourk and Thomas T. Rourk. She was the widow of the late James Carl Saulisbury.  

Betty was a volunteer at Roper Hospital for 43 years. She dedicated 35,000 hours. 

In 2007, Betty and her husband Carl were awarded the Jefferson award. And in 2013, Betty was presented with the governor’s volunteer award.  

She was very active with Hampton Park playground for many years as a playground director. She was a life member at Rutledge Avenue Baptist Church where she dedicated her time working in the nursery and singing in the choir. She later on joined Pinecrest Baptist Church.  

She has survived by her children. Anna Brown (Albie), Jim Saulisbury (Kathy). She has three grandchildren, Tiffany, Tina and Todd. Two great-granddaughters, four great-grandsons and four great great grandsons.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 67 years, seven Brothers, seven sisters and a great great grandson Parker.  

The family would like to thank the staff at Roper hospice for taking such great care of her.  

The viewing will be held at Pinecrest Baptist Church at 1285 Ashley Hall Road, Charleston, South Carolina on Tuesday, November 12th from 5:30 to 7:30  

The graveside service will be at Carolina memorial gardens on Wednesday, November 13th at 10:30 am.  

Flowers will be accepted, and memorials can be made to Roper hospice care at 8536 Palmetto commerce parkway, suite 2078 Ladson South Carolina 29456.
