Gloria Isadora Ford was born on October 31, 1935, to Mazie and James Ford in Brooklyn, New York. Her birth certificate was processed on November 1, 1935. Gloria's early years were spent in Brooklyn, where she attended P.S. 182, Junior High 149, and Thomas Jefferson High School and later, the New York Foundling Hospital.
Throughout her school years and as a cheerleader at Thomas Jefferson, she was known for her popularity and vibrant personality. Gloria was also a part of a club called the Mermaids. Her spiritual journey began at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, where she was baptized, confirmed, and later married.
Gloria married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Ford, in Brooklyn and together they raised three children: Robin, Wanda, and Robert Jr. The family later moved to Queens, where they purchased their first new house, and subsequently relocated to Long Island.
Their family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of love that spanned generations.
Throughout her life, Gloria pursued various career opportunities:
- Stanley Home Products
- Metropolitan Life Insurance Company
- Infant Care Technician at The New York Foundling Hospital
- Mary Immaculate Hospital
- Transitioned to sales, working at Gertz Department Store, Gimbels, and Coward Shoe
- After moving to Florida in 1999, she worked at Belk department stores.
Gloria enjoyed Bingo, puzzles, crocheting, shopping and Face Timing family. After retiring from Belk, Gloria moved to Flower Mound, Texas, Her retirement years were filled with the joy of family and close friendships.
She passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the age of 89. She will join her husband, parents, brother, sisters, other family and friends who welcomed her to heaven.
Gloria is survived by her children; daughters, Robin Bonita Rogers (Texas), Wanda Dale Rogers and her husband Andrew (Texas); son, Robert Raymond Ford Jr. and his wife Angela (Virginia).
She is also survived by her sister and best friend Olga Ford and brother John Ford, as well as numerous grandchildren; Eben Rogers III, Christina Rogers, Andrew Rogers Jr., Danielle Hancock and her husband Matthew, Christopher Rogers and his wife Yang, Robert Raymond Ford III and his wife Allison, Alexis Singh; great-grand children, Eben Rogers IV, Aison Hernandez Jr., Christian Hernandez, Clarissa Hernandez, Jaiden Hinds-Rogers, Danica Hancock, Drake Hancock and Isadora Ford.
Gloria was cherished by her family and friends, including her Bingo companions Nettie Newby and Rhonda Machove, as well as Clarence and Michelle Maccow, all who became family to her.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as they imagine her resting peacefully in Heaven, smiling down with her arms wrapped around them in eternal embrace.

A funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12th, at Loyless Funeral Homes, with visitation beginning 30 minutes prior. Interment will follow on Wednesday, November 13th, at 11:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery.
