In Loving Memory

Lydia Cloyd Claytor died peacefully in her home Thursday, November 7, 2024. She was born May 14, 1940 in Andrews, South Carolina to the late Hubert and Suley (McKenzie) Cloyd.

Lydia was a graduate of Dreher High School in Columbia. She was an Accountant for the SC Department of Corrections from 1971 until 2003 when she "softly" retired from Campbell Pre-Release Center. She went back to work at the same job in 2006 at Manning Correctional Center and officially retired in 2023 at 83 years old.

Survivors include her children, Pam Claytor, Patrick Claytor and Sherri (Charles) Fortner all of Irmo, and the absolute lights of her life, her two grandsons, Furman Fortner of Columbia, SC and Cameron Fortner of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and his wife Harlee of JEB, Ft. Story, Virginia Beach, Virginia.  In addition to her parents, Lydia was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Jane (Feagin) Gossett; and five brothers, Jack, James, Charles and Johnny Feagin and Austin Cloyd.

She was a lover of genealogy and researching her family tree and dabbling with her roses. Unknown to most, she was an expert Pac-Man player. Her most favorite past time was flying kites and building sand castles with her grandsons during family vacations at Folly Beach.

A Celebration of her Life service will be held at 3:00 PM, December 23, 2024, at the Mausoleum Chapel of Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington. Pastor David Spears will officiate. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service (2:00 - 3:00 PM) in the Mausoleum Chapel.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Denise Brown and Hattie Parks who were "a gift from Above" in their taking care of our mom.
