William Franklin Blair (74) was an adored husband, father, grandfather, and educator, known for his kind, loving, caring, and occasionally sarcastic personality. He succumbed to complications from Parkinson's disease and diabetes on November 8, 2024. Despite his courageous battle with these challenging conditions, the toll on his body became insurmountable. Born in Centralia, Washington, on September 1, 1950, Bill lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a desire to serve others.

A lifelong learner, Bill exhibited a thirst for knowledge and modeled the joy of discovery. He was an alumnus of Onalaska High School (1968), Seattle Pacific University (1972), and Portland University (1991). Above all, Bill’s life was defined by education—from the teachings of Jesus to phonics; he truly had the heart of an educator. He taught for 40 years, primarily in the Chehalis School District, and often instructed Adult Sunday School at St. John’s Lutheran Church. As an educator, he exemplified selflessness, a value that was central to his character.

Bill loved Jesus, music, and hamburgers, but most of all, he cherished his family, especially his devoted wife of 53 years, Dee. His daughters, Sara and Mindy (Jonathan), were greatly enriched by having "one of the good ones" as their father. He adored being a papa to Frankie (8) and Scott (6). His absence creates an irreplaceable void in their lives, yet they draw solace from the cherished memories and enduring love they shared.

He is survived by his siblings: sisters and sister-in-law Kathy Phillips and Aletha (Kenny) Bailey, Keri (Bob) Evans and brothers John (Susan), Rob (Diana), George, and Tom (Andra) Blair, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father George, mother Edythe, and brothers Patrick and Stan, as well as sisters Sherild and Margaret.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date in January at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chehalis, Washington. Bill Blair, a mischievous whistling beacon of kindness and love, will forever reside in our hearts. His legacy, exemplified by his passion for education, love of music, and compassion for students, will continue to inspire and guide others.
