Barbara "Barb" Fern Sapp

Barbara (Barb) Fern Sapp 89 passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in Melbourne, FL. She was born in Kansas City, MO on March 28, 1935. She lived her early years on the road as her father worked for the railroad system and traveled town to town inspecting the tracks. She settled in Springfield, MO in her later elementary years.

She graduated from high school and attended college in Springfield, MO where she studied chemical science. Her first job was running the lab at Kraft Foods. She stayed home to raise her children and then spent the rest of her working years as an administrative assistant at various schools in Hazelwood School District and later at Northwest High School in the Jefferson County School System in Missouri.

Barb married James (Jimmy) Walter Sapp, Jr on March 16, 1956 in Grace Methodist Church and celebrated 59 years of marriage. She loved to sing in the choir at her local church. She was an accomplished seamstress. She sewed the majority of her own and her children’s clothes and many items for her home. She hand-pieced 9 quilts which were passed down to her daughters and granddaughters. She enjoyed traveling in their motor home. She and Jim wintered in Texas for many years and then as her daughters settled in Florida, they moved their winter stays to Fort Myers. She loved going to Bingo and spent many hours playing Hand and Foot (aka Branson Canasta) with her friends in Missouri, Texas, and Florida.

Barb was preceded in death by husband, James (Jimmy) Sapp, Jr and daughter, Karen Louise Bub. She is survived by her children Vicki (Rick) Huffman and Debbie Mason. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, a brother Clyde William (Bill) Crandall, and 6 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 15, 2024. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Both will be held at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Drive, Rockledge, FL 32955. An informal Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-3:30 pm on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 S Lone Pine Avenue, Springfield, MO 65804. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill, MO.
