Sandra “Sandy” Kay Jenne
February 6, 1952 - November 10, 2024
Sandy Jenne, 72, of Albany passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024.
She was born in Corvallis, OR to Walter and Betty Schweitz. She was the oldest of five daughters raised on a small farm in Philomath.
Sandy went to Oregon State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology and education. She graduated in 3 years and in true Sandra fashion, she went straight to work. She began her career as a high school history teacher at Klamath Falls. While teaching at Klamath Falls, she met James “Jim” Jenne, whom she married on October 25, 1975; they had five children. They divorced in 1988.
Throughout her career she was also a social worker and ran her own in-home preschool/daycare for over 30 years.
She is survived by her sons Michael Jenne of London, England; Shawn Jenne and her grandson Brody of Salem; daughter Shanna Penny and husband Bill of Keizer; mother Betty Schweitz of Albany; sisters and brother in-laws Vicki (Larry) Bielenberg, Markie (Darrel) Belcher both from Albany; Kim (Jim) White of Keizer; Connie (Chuck) Wilson of Broken Bow, OK; as well as many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Walter Schweitz and her twin sons Mark and Matthew Jenne, who were born prematurely and passed away shortly thereafter in June 1982.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7th, 2024 1pm at First Christian Church 432 SW Ferry Street, Albany, OR 97321.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Defenders of Wildlife or Safe Haven Humane Society.
