Wilma Jean Robertson Coley, 84, born September 28, 1940, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

 

A native of Forsyth County, NC, Wilma was the wife of Richard Allen Coley, Sr and the daughter of Clinton Eller Robertson and Margaret Virginia Kimel Robertson, both deceased.

 

During Wilma’s life she nurtured 72 (including her grandchildren) children whom all held a special place in her heart.

 

She was married to the love of her life for 62 years.

 

Wilma enjoyed a multitude of hobbies including cross stitching, sewing, making quilts for Brenners Children’s Hospital, weaving baskets, caning chairs, baking, canning, Wake Forest Basketball, and attending her grandchildren’s sports activities.

 

Wilma loved to travel and visited 49 states, all providences of Canada, Alaska 3 times, and took numerous cruises including one thru the Panama Canal.

 

She was raised on the Robertson Dairy Farm in Kernersville. She was very proud of her heritage and enjoyed all the Moravian holidays. She graduated from Kernersville High School in 1958 and continued to meet with her classmates up until her death. She was a lifelong member of Pine Grove Methodist Church where she faithfully attended and cherished her JOY (Jesus Others Yourself) Sunday School Class. She was a dedicated member of the Talley’s Crossing Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 20 years.

 

Survivors include her husband, Richard, sons, Richard Allen Coley, Jr (Amber) and Charles Eller Coley; granddaughters, Ashton Coley Setzer (Kaleb), Payton Coley Pegg (Austin) and grandson, Jon Graham Coley; Sisters-in-laws, Jean Coley Norton (Calvin) and Ruth Bowman Robertson; many special nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Jorene Cooke and Wanda Watkins; and her faithful dog, Teddy.

 

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Robertson Dillon; brother, Charles Stanton Robertson; brother-in-law, Clarence “Whistle” Dillon, Jr; and daughter-in-law, Shanda Cromer Coley.

 

A celebration of life service will be held 3:30 PM on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Pine Grove Methodist Church, 1018 Piney Grove Road, Kernersville, NC with visitation to follow in the church Fellowship Hall.

 

On Sunday, November 10, 2024, prior to her passing, she visited New River Calvary Church in Fleetwood, NC with members of her church family that was significantly damaged by the effects of Hurricane Helene. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting monetary donations in memory of Wilma Jean Coley to Pine Grove Methodist Church to assist funding the Ashe County Christmas Children’s Project.

 

And as Wilma Jean always said at the end of a conversation, We LOVE Ya’ll and We’ll SEE YA, Bye!
