Joyce Anne Wilkes, 68, entered into eternal rest on Friday November 15, 2024 at Van Duyn in Syracuse, NY. She was born on January 27, 1956 in Bolivar, Tennessee. Joyce lived in Syracuse since childhood and attended public schools. She graduated from Sydney Johnson Vocational Center and worked as a welder and a nursing assistant. She worked for places such as, Kilian, James Square, Plaza and Van Duyn. Joyce’s last job was at University Hospital’s Burn Unit, until becoming disabled in 1990.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Toni Moore; two sons, Thomas Sr. and Marcus Moore; sisters, Ethel Louise Vereen, Janet Lenahan, Jacqueline Loften, Gloria Hunt and Mary Loften; brothers, Larry Stewart and James Loften; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friend Charkia Sampson.
Calling hours will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Tuesday, November 26th at A. Dewitt Memorial Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St. Syracuse, NY 13205.
Homegoing service will be at 12PM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
