Modena C Jensen

Modena Colleen Jensen, of Gilbert, AZ passed away on November 23, 2024 at the age of 73, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Modena was born on January 13, 1951, in Mesa, to Thomas and Hilda Clement. She married Darrell Jensen on October 2, 1992, and continued raising his three children: Elizabeth, Joseph and Charity after their mother died from cancer earlier that year.

After graduating from Gilbert High School (class of 1969) she attended Brigham Young University in Provo. She also served in the Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1984-1986. She was employed in several positions, including as a bookkeeper for Clement's Auto Repair, and as a receptionist for S&H Steel, but she will mostly be remembered for the time she spent in the home as an creative cook, an inventive problem solver, a talented artist, and a loving teacher. She earned an Associates Degree from Mesa Community College and tutored her nieces, nephews and children in their school assignments. 

Modena loved serving in her various church callings including Relief Society President, Ward Missionary, Self Reliance Specialist and Primary Teacher. She particularly enjoyed teaching and learning from all the children in her Primary classes. She was also consistently involved in community service, most recently making quilts and hygiene kits for refugees.

She took pride in all her grandchildren and enjoyed hearing about and attending all their various activities, from soccer matches and football games to track and cross country meets.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, and two brothers (Tommy and Danny). She is survived by her brothers (David and Paul) and sister, Merlynn; her three children (Elizabeth, Joseph, and Charity) and her ten grandchildren, Aubree, Addison, Austin, Taysom, Andee, Nick, Brock, Tyler, Tori and Jasmine.

Modena will always be remembered for her constant service, dedication to family and selfless love.
