Valarie Collins

Valarie Ray Collins, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, in Pinellas Park, Florida, at the age of 73. Born on August 5, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, Valarie radiated love and kindness throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she met.

Valarie's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family. She was a beloved wife to her husband of 54 years, Gerald Collins Sr., and a cherished mother to her children, Melissa (Kevin) Trahan and Gerald Collins Jr. Her love blossomed further as she became a grandmother to Kristin, Lauren, Allison, Jacob, Karlie, Danielle, Emma, and Trey, and a great-grandmother to Alexis, Logan, and Lindsey. Valarie leaves behind her 98-year-old mother, Mary Sikes, her three sisters Lottie, Christine and Diane and her brother John as well as many nieces and nephews who were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her brother Bobby, whose memory she held dear.

Professionally, Valarie was the respected Department Director at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida, where her compassionate nature and leadership skills made a significant impact. Her colleagues and those she served will remember her for her generosity and commitment to excellence in healthcare.

 Valarie's interests were a reflection of her loving and nurturing soul. She was an exceptional caretaker, known for her delicious baked goods and her open heart. Her home was a warm and welcoming place where family gathered. Above all, Valarie adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.

Valarie's life can best be described by the words kind, generous, and loving. These attributes were the cornerstone of her existence and the guiding light for those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. She will be laid to rest at Bay Pines National Cemetery
