David Arnold Ward

We mourn the passing and celebrate the life of David Arnold Ward, who departed this life on November 30, 2024, in Bonaire, GA. Born on October 15, 1958, in Marietta, GA, David was known to all as a kind, loyal, and funny soul whose life was a testament to service and love. A celebration of David’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Tommy Odom. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, offering an opportunity for friends and family to gather in honoring a life well-lived.

David devoted his career to the service of others, beginning as a firefighter in 1982. He rose through the ranks to become a captain and ultimately left his remarkable career as a Fire chief, continuing his dedication to public safety as a paramedic for over 33 years. His commitment to his community and the lives he touched remain an enduring legacy. His personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional one. David shared 46 precious years with his beloved wife, Linda Lou Ward, a steadfast companion through life's many adventures. Together, they raised two daughters, Deana Sumner (married to Tim) and Stephanie Wise (married to Randy), and cherished their three grandchildren: Tyler Barnett, Jordyn Sumner, and Anna Sumner. David's love extended to his mother, Barbara Ward; siblings, Cheryl Haymans and Susan Ward, who survive him alongside his loyal companion, Little Frank, his cherished dog. A man with a profound love for the outdoors, David could often be found tending his garden or casting a line on fishing trips. He had a passion for cruise adventures and camping, infusing his leisure with as much dedication as his work. David was preceded in death by his father, Danny Ward, and brother, Richard Ward. His enduring spirit and the humor he brought into the lives of those around him will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
