Thelma Marguerite Lee, 95, of Scottsdale AZ, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 in Scottsdale.
Mrs. Lee, a dancer, homemaker, publisher, and artist, was born on May 7, 1929 in Pittsfield MA.
Preceded in death by parents Harold Edward Coe and Lorena Marshall Coe, her husband of 52 years Earl Rudolph Lee, granddaughter Jessica M. Essen, and son Justin H. Lee.
She is survived by daughters Allyson M. Essen, Olympia WA; Jody B. Kilthau (Eddie), Phoenix AZ; and Linda E. Mangini (Leo), Watertown CT. Three sons: Corey M. Lee (LuAnn), Cedar Grove WI; Marc D. Lee (Mary), Scottsdale AZ; and Dana E. Lee (Ginger), Vernonia OR.
She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, very special extended family and friends, and her beloved rescue dogs Mitzi and Abby.
Thelma was a graduate of the Hallenbeck School of Fine Arts, Albany NY. She majored in Ballet and became an accomplished performer in Spanish, Hindu, Acrobatic, Modern, and Tap Dance. At the age of 18 she opened 5 dance studios in the Berkshire Hills, MA area.
A move to Phoenix, AZ in 1969 led to the forming of her own publishing company, Lee Originals, Inc., where she designed and wrote 13 Macramé books distributed worldwide. She also taught the art of Macramé knot-tying on television. Her later years were spent pursuing her love of painting. She never lost her creative spirit.
A private memorial service will be held In January 2025 in Mesa AZ. Donations may be made to the Humane Society in your chosen location.
