All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge

Douglas "Doug" Fairbairn
June 14th, 1954 - November 27th, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Aumiller Fairbairn announce his passing. He will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 45 years, Ann ,and his children – Sarah (Manuel), Luke (Paulina), Jonathan (Amanda) and Isaac as well as the eight grandchildren that Doug adored. In addition are those he loved as sons and daughters- Mariam Bamba, Pedro Garcia, Jamar Rahming, Lynn Freyta and Samson Barrios ,and his very dear friend, Michael Ragsdale.
Doug was born on June 14, 1954 in Kearney, Nebraska. He grew up in Boulder, Colorado and attended school in Colorado through his graduation from Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1981. Doug was a family physician and had a career that spanned from a practice in rural Nebraska, medical director of the St. Anthony hospital family residency program, finishing his career at Inner City Health Center caring for the uninsured and under insured. He practiced medicine in the same way that he moved through his life, with great compassion and love for all who crossed his path.
His great loves were his wife, Ann and their children. Becoming Gramps to Gabe, Joaquin, Ezra, Nayeli, Eleonor, Nicolas, Ash and Ida was what brought Doug his greatest joy. Being in the mountains, skiing, hiking, riding his bike, gardening and cooking enormous amounts of food to share were his favorite ways to spend time. Doug also loved to fish, and had a favorite spot that could only be reached by roping a cable to cross the creek to his favorite canyon. A fishing trip was not complete until he fell in the water at least once.
Doug passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 in Silverthorne, Colorado. Although we will miss being with Doug, he left a family of amazingly loving friends and family to support and care for all of us.
His memorial service will be held at Park Hill United Methodist Church in Denver, Colorado on January 11, 2025 at 2 pm.
