Georgine H. Sands

Georgine Helen Sands of Thorofare, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 4, 2024.

Predeceased by her adored husband, Harry J. Sands. Together they built a loving home in Thorofare, NJ with their 3 devoted daughters, Rose Rita Rathof (Thomas), Lorrie Sands-Monahan (the late Brian Sr.) and Paige McMenamin (Patrick).

She was born to the late Frank and Rose Roberts of Verga, NJ on March 6, 1939. She grew up in Verga, NJ and went to Camden Catholic High School.

Once married, they bought their forever home in Thorofare, where they lived and loved life for 65 years. She had a strong faith in the Blessed Mother and St. Francis and was an active member of St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church in National Park, NJ.

Her favorite job was being a model for the Estell Lind Shop in Thorofare. She modeled at shows from the early 50’s to the late 60’s. Throughout her life, she was always known for dressing fashionably and ensured her children were the same, especially on special occasions like proms!

She was very creative and enjoyed making wedding/prom flowers and one of a kind bridal head pieces with veils for family and friends. She always said, “it was a labor of love”.  Her favorite time of the year was the holidays, when she would donate food baskets for families in need anonymously. She always made sure Santa had gifts for those children as well.

She was predeceased by her brother Frank Roberts (Becky) whom she loved so dearly.

She adored her grandchildren beyond measure, Brian Monahan (Sarah), Brent Rathof (Kristen), Jessica Conover (Michael), Lauren Mascino (Michael), Cara Elizabeth, Kiersten Vournavakis (Yianni) and Reed Rathof (Katelyn). Great Grandchildren, Ethan, Hunter, Harper, Kaley, Luke, Harry, Blake, Lily, Dalton, Alex, Waylon and Ares.

Her favorite nephews and nieces, Carol Anne, Georgine, Frankie, Harry, Grant, Wendy, Cynthia and Stephen. Lifelong dear friends, John and Connie, Dan and Judy, Norman and Kay, Bob and Maryann, Jim and Rita, Ken and Debbie, Bill and Evie and their families who were all very special to her.

Farewell Tribute

Celebration of life will be on December 12th at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Woodbury Heights, NJ. Visitation is from 10AM-10:45AM, followed by Funeral Mass at 11AM. Interment will be at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ.
