Joseph Matthew Hanh Cox
October 19th, 2000 - December 8th, 2024

Joseph Matthew Hanh Cox 24, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 8, 2024. He was a 2019 graduate of Sullivan North High School. Joseph attended Marion Military Institute as well as the Coast Guard Academy. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard where he completed a tour overseas in Bahrain and received his Armed Forces Service Medal, Global War Terror Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Coast Guard good Conduct Medal. Joseph was active in every community he lived in, serving as a volunteer fire fighter and EMT. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert “Don” Mann; paternal grandparents, Tom and Vickie Cox; paternal grandmother, Veronia Cox.
Survivors include his parents, Wayne and Beverly Cox; sister, Erika Cox; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Mann; along with a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Lynn Garden Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Rick Meade and Pastor Anthony Gragg officiating.
A military graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with honors conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lynn Garden Baptist Church or the Coast Guard Foundation.
