Kevin Fleming

FLEMING P.E., Kevin 73 departed December 15, 2024 on his final voyage with great expectations of rejoining Anne, the love of his life, who preceded him in her journey. Kevin was born the fourth of eight children to Raymond and Anne Fleming (nee Kullowitsch) in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago’s South Side. He was raised and educated in Chicago’s North Side, Hoffman Estates, and returned to the South Side to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology. While vacationing in Florida in 1978, Kevin was smitten with the lovely Anne Vincent, a local Tampa girl. After a three-year, long-distance romance, Kevin came to his senses and moved from the cold northern climes to balmy Florida amid the sound of wedding bells. Getting married to Anne was the happiest day of his life, the birth of their daughter Kate being a very close second. Kevin’s career encompassed nuclear, fossil, wind, and hydro power generation development, engineering, and construction projects throughout the United States and Central America, working for Sargent & Lundy, TECO Energy, General Electric, Progress Energy, Alliant Energy and Horizon Wind, among others. He was a Life Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. A licensed Professional Engineer in Florida and Illinois, in his spare time, he received an MBA degree from the University of Tampa. Highlighting his career was his leadership of a power plant installation in Guatemala that ended the country’s 1995 power crisis. Kevin enjoyed being with his family, traveling, all things mechanical, investing, genealogy, bicycle riding, target shooting, and mowing the grass. First and foremost, he cherished being with his family, whether having a quiet breakfast at home or taking a vacation cruise.

Kevin is survived by his daughter Kate, son-in-law Will and two energetic intelligent grandsons; as well as (4) brothers and (3) sisters, most with spouses; along with multiple nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and members of Anne’s family tree; with special mention and love to Alyssa and her family.
