Nancy Carol Slater Martin, age 69, of Lexington, SC, passed away on December 17, 2024 in her home.
She was born on February 6, 1955, in Williamson, WV, to Kenneth and Vida Slater. Nancy was dedicated to her children and family members, loved to cook and create new recipes, had a deep deep love and appreciation for music, and was an accomplished musician in her own right, loved animals, all things purple and found peace in the mountains.
Nancy is survived by her father, Ken Slater of Lubbock, TX; her husband, Franklin “Bo” Martin of Lexington, SC; son, Quay Dopler, and significant other, Shawnee Thompson, of Mansfield, TX; daughter, Jess Groomer, and husband, Levi, of Lubbock, TX, and their two children, Liam and Laurel; daughter, Jenna Gospodnetich, and husband, Cody, of Trail, OR, and her two children, Cale and Cora; daughter, Ace Slater of Portland, OR, and partner, Alex King; sister, Vicky Davis of Lubbock, TX; sister, Keena Donarumo, and husband, Mike, of Granbury, TX; Jerry Slater, and significant other Brenda Williams, of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-law, Stacy Slater of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-law, Ellen Jaworski, and husband, Steve, of Paso Robles, CA; stepson, Jason Martin, and wife, Amanda, of Edgefield, SC, and their four children, Silas, Thad, Caleb, and Eileen; stepson, Todd Martin, and wife, Renee, of Lexington, SC, and their two children, Sebastian and Olivia, and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy is preceded in death by her mother, Vida Slater; brother, John Slater; brother-in-law, Roger Davis.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to South Plains SPCA, Lubbock, TX or Lexington County Animals Services, 321 Ball Park Road Lexington, SC 29072.
