We announce with profound sorrow the passing of Jim Farley Ford on December 11, 2024, in Lacey, Washington, at the age of 71. Born on September 15, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington, Jim was a man of great character and unwavering faith, whose life was a testament to his dedication, love, and profound kindness.
Jim's formative years took place in the picturesque community of Gig Harbor, where he attended Peninsula High School, graduating in 1972. His quest for knowledge and spiritual growth led him to Colorado Springs, where he became a proud graduate of Charis Bible College. His academic journey also included a notable certification in apprenticeship and qualification in British Columbia, Canada.
Jim's professional life was as varied as it was industrious. He began his career in sheet metal fabrication, working in commercial and heavy industrial settings with Eralco Mechanical and Edake Mines, as well as a methane gas plant. Along with his family he helped grow Ford & Sons Roofing, with determination and vision. At Charis Bible College, he transitioned from volunteer to the trusted role of Production Manager in the Media Department, contributing significantly to its mission.
Above all, Jim was a family man. He married the love of his life, Anne Elizabeth Hart Ford, on March 20, 2010, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Together, they nurtured a family built on love, joy, and mutual respect. He leaves behind his beloved children, Justin Thomas Ford, Jesse Robert Ford, and Lesley Ann Ford, as well as his devoted brothers, Patrick Ford, Joseph Ford, and John Ford. Along with their wives; Reńee, Pat, and DJ. His cherished legacy includes nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will carry forth his spirit of generosity and warmth.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim was known for his stoic yet warm nature. He was a man of deep conviction, often extending a helping hand to those in need of God's love and support. His commitment to others, combined with his remarkable capabilities, enabled him to touch many lives profoundly.
Jim had a passion for storytelling, often sharing tales with family and friends. Those who knew him will fondly remember his love for the coast, fishing, clamming, and crabbing. He was best known for crafting arguably the finest clam chowder, an apt reflection of his rich and hearty spirit.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Robert Warren Ford, his mother, Betty Jean Poy Ford, and his brother, Frank Ford.
Even as we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life well-lived, guided by faith and marked by service. His legacy lives on in those he leaves behind and in the countless memories he created with family, friends, and those whose lives he touched through his ministry. May we honor Jim’s memory by extending the same kindness and generosity that he offered to those around him. The details of a memorial service will be shared at a later date, as we gather to reflect on and celebrate the enduring impact of his life.
