Kenneth Kenji Sato
May 29th, 1931 - December 9th, 2024
Kenneth Sato (Ken) was born in Ammon, Idaho on May 29, 1931. He was the youngest of five sisters and one brother. Born to Joseph and Hiro Sato.
Ken grew up in Ammon, Idaho where he graduated from what was then called Ammon High School. In High School he participated sports (football and basketball). After High School he began working with his father on the family farm eventually taking over the farm when his father retired. After several years running the farm, Ken decided to switch careers and transferred his agricultural and equipment knowledge into a new career as a produce buyer for a local potato packaging plant. He worked at the potato packaging plant until it was sold and at that point decided to venture out on his own and started a wholesale electronics distribution company selling electrical components to the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. In the late 1990’s Ken decided to retire. During retirement Ken would occasionally travel to Florida to see his son. He loved visiting with his son but thought the weather in Florida was too hot and humid for his liking.
Ken loved having visitors, especially his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He enjoyed working in his yard and tinkering with anything mechanical. He could fix anything and would always offer a helping hand to neighbors, friends and family. One of his biggest joys was spending time with his family and 9 grandchildren. Ken was also a sports fanatic and loved watching basketball and football, however, he was known to watch a movie or two on the Hallmark channel, at the coaxing of his daughter-in-law, Lori. He once even confided to Lori that the Hallmark movies brought a tear to his eye and that maybe watching sports would take a back seat to these movies.
Ken is survived by his two son’s, one being Matt (Lori), his daughter Maurene (Troy), Margaret, whom he considered a daughter, and his eight grandchildren (Matt Jr., Kayla, Alyssa, Jo, Danny, Syrena, Braden and Alex) and one great grandchild, Kayezen. He was proceeded in death by his parents and all six siblings.
Internment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Methodist Church, 237 N Water Ave, Idaho Falls, Idaho, at 10AM January 4, 2025.
