Bonnie "Mumu" Jean Greenman
August 7th, 1945 - November 17th, 2024
"My faith is stronger than my fear"-BJG A life well lived seems to be one that comes to a close surrounded by loved ones, at peace with death coming, with a heart full of radiant love.
Bonnie Jean Greenman (Hunt), beloved by many, passed away on November 17, 2024 in her home in Milwaukie, Oregon at the age of 79. She was surrounded by her daughters as she met her heavenly father. She is survived by her three daughters, five grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was born August 7, 1945 in Portland, Oregon. She married her grade school sweetheart Terry Greenman and they built several homes together on Petes Mountain in West Linn. Bonnie attended West Linn High school as did generations of her family. She was the first West Linn Fair princess, a May Day princess and involved in school activities. Together with Terry they raised 3 daughters. Sonja Gonzalez, Susan Sheely and Shannon Fernaeus. The life they lived was full of so much love and family.
Bonnie was able to be home to raise her children. She sewed costumes, party dresses, 4-H decorations, helped run clubs, ran a ski bus, volunteered in classrooms and even typed up term papers. Summers were always filled with trips to the Oregon coast, one of Bonnie’s favorite destinations. Other important things in Bonnie’s life were, The Singing Christmas Tree, gardening, baking, camping, backpacking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She loved being a sister, a mom, an aunt and a friend. Her legacy lives on in her large extended family.
Her eldest daughter, Sonja Gonzalez (Pedro Gonzalez) had three children. Kylee Gonzalez (Michael Gonzalez), Dilan Stahlnecker (Samantha Stahlnecker) and Brenna Fritz (Ty Fritz). She was also blessed with 3 great grandkids Asa Stahlnecker, Harper Gonzalez and Sebastian Gonzalez. All of whom will never forget the love she brought to their lives and the “epic tea parties” only MuMu could throw. Bonnie (more fondly known as MuMu) delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren as much if not more than her children.
Susan Sheely (Chris Sheely) was her middle child and gave Bonnie two more grandchildren Hannah Sheely-Doud (Hayden Doud) and Katie Sheely (Rooster Dean). She moved to Myrtle Creek and lived there for 13 years. Bonnie didn’t miss a dance recital, ball game, fair event, or rodeo. They had some wonderful years growing up in Myrtle Creek with MuMu living just up the road. Hannah and her husband blessed MuMu with her 4th great grandchild, Tate.
Shannon Fernaeus (Bjorn Fernaeus) was her last child. Bonnie lived her last 8 years only minutes from them in Milwaukie. She enjoyed her furry four legged grandkids. Bonnie enjoyed planting flowers, watching hummingbirds and giving treats to all the dogs. Bjorn affectionately referred to her as “momma Bon” on their weekly pizza nights. One of her favorite sayings was I love you more than life and it rings true in all who loved her.
The loss of this amazing woman will be felt forever but her life was well lived. One of her greatest gifts was her ability to love and her strong belief in God. She was a true prayer warrior. She loved like no other and surely her faith will live on in all of us. She is already one of God’s favorites. May we all find peace in knowing she is having one of her tea parties listening to Fiddler on the Roof and baking apple pies for everyone. There is no doubt that when she would say, “You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone,” she was spot on…..Mom (AKA Mumu), you will be missed by every life you touched beyond any amount you could imagine!
Bonnie will be greatly missed but her legacy of love and faith will endure in her family and friends. If you would like to come celebrate her life we will have a Celebration of life on 2/15/25 at Oak Grove Community Hall 14496 SE Cedar Ave Portland, OR 97267 2:30 - 5:00 pm
