Charles Lungaro

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Lungaro, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and public servant who peacefully passed away on December 25th 2024 at the age of 65. Charles, lovingly known as Charlie was born in Suffern New York and lived his entire life in North Rockland.  Charlie is survived by Nancy Lungaro, his wife of 40 years, his four children Lauren Altomonte (Paul), Mallory Lungaro, Lisa Masciovecchio (Kevin), and Bryan Lungaro (Jaime), grandchildren Jaxon and Brody, and his siblings Leo Lungaro (Wendy), Ernie Lungaro, Nicole Beckerle (Joe).  He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Charles Lungaro Sr. He retired from the New York CIty Police Department as a detective in 2002. As a proud detective he spent 20 years serving and protecting the people of New York City with honor and distinction. After retiring, he continued to impact the lives of those around him, offering wisdom, kindness, and guidance. Charlie subsequently worked for Citigroup before establishing his own private investigation business.He enjoyed coaching and watching his children’s sporting events. He was a great lover of music, especially Elvis Pressley and The Beatles. His family was his life and his children carry on his legacy of strength and compassion. He was a proud and doting grandparent to his cherished grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years. Charlie will be remembered for his warmth, welcoming personality, and sense of humor. Whether sharing stories from his days on the force or always offering help to those in need, he left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Services will be held for family and friends on Thursday January 2nd from 4:00pm-8:00pm at T.J. McGowan’s Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Funeral Mass Friday January 3rd 11:00am at St. Gregory Barbarigo in Garnerville, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The ARC Rockland and St. Jude’s.
