Shelley Lynn Newhouse
September 20th, 1951 - December 27th, 2024
Shelley Newhouse, age 73, died on Friday, December 27, 2024. The funeral service will be held on January 2, 2025, and Rost Funeral Home, Mountain Home, at 1PM; burial at Glenn Rest in Glenns Ferry; visitation an hour before the service.
Shelley was born to Kenneth and Dorothy James and baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. The family moved to Twin Falls where she attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and Memorial Lutheran School. She worked for many years at Heritage Manor in Twin Falls. As she began to lose her sight she moved to Boise to attend training at Idaho Commission for the Blind, where she met her future husband, Noel Newhouse. They were married in February 1985. They lived in Sandpoint, Twin Falls, and Boise at various times. They were active in the National Federation for the Blind. They enjoyed camping trips in both north and central Idaho. Their favorite area was the Trinities, where they would spend up to two weeks camping on their own, which surprised many people. They also celebrated Christmas by lighting their homes with thousands of lights.
Shelley was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband; and survived by her sisters Leslie (Kieth Meyerhoff) James, Claudia (Thomas) Pautz; her three brothers Marc James, Randy James, and Roger (Amy) James; ten nieces and nephews; and seventeen grand-nephews and nieces. And she knew all their birthdays and anniversaries. “See me!”

We Entrusted Shelley Newhouse's Care To
Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
