Irene Virginia Owens Graham

Born New Years' Day, 1934, in Rains, South Carolina, our beloved, Irene Virginia Owens Graham, a lifelong follower of Jesus, departed her body on December 30, 2024, two days shy of her 91st birthday, but her life and spirit will never leave us. 

Born to Clifton K. and Louise Rogers Owens, whom she adored, Irene shared a childhood with her two brothers Cecil and Travis.  Besides being a sister and daughter, Irene was a passionate and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and even great-grandmother.  

After graduating Rains High School in 1951, she went to work for Southern Bell as an operator before marrying Joseph Jennings Graham of Aynor, South Carolina.  Together they had and raised three cherished daughters: the late-Susan Graham Case (Robert), Jodie Graham Faircloth (Robert), and Marsha Graham.  

"Granny," as she became (reluctantly, but lovingly) known, devoted her life to her girls and their children, her grandchildren. Her grandchildren, Meredith, Matthew, Trevor, Virginia, Hayden, and Grayson's lives have all been indelibly marked by her love, attention, and care.  None of us would be who we are today without her. None of us will forget her biscuits, her cakes and pies, much less her worry and care for our safety, and her determination that we would all love one another and be our best. 

Irene led a life that we could all aspire to, and she will be missed beyond words.  

She is with her Lord now...and her mother, father, brother, and daughter.  She will be forever cherished for how she taught us to live and love our lives, and we cannot wait to meet her on the other side. Rest In Peace Granny, we love you with all of our hearts.

at Grecian Gardens Restaurant, 2312 Sunset Blvd. West Columbia, SC 29169.
