Mathew Reynolds
April 22nd, 1930 - December 26th, 2024
Mathew Reynolds, 94, of LaFayette, NY, passed away peacefully in the home he built on December 26, 2024. Mat was the co-owner of LaFayette Pipeline, a successful venture he shared with his longtime partner, Arnold White. A proud veteran during the Korean War, Mat's legacy of service, hard work, and dedication to family and community will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley Reynolds, and is survived by his children: Matt (Stephanie), Cheryl Gale (Kevin), and Karen. Mat is also survived by his five grandchildren: Blake (Nicole), Tyler (Addie), Brittany Clemens (Mike), Ryan (Victoria), and Jessie Owen (Garrett), along with his thirteen great-grandchildren: Landyn, Mia, Bailey, Stevie, Daniel, Jacob, Camden, Brady, Callie, Corbin, Sawyer, Tennyson and Ava.
Mat believed deeply in the value of hard work, and a good project was always something he looked forward to. He was a master carpenter, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a person who loved helping anyone who would allow him to. His zest for life, his incredible smile, and his wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and the breakfast crew he so enjoyed spending time with. Mat could always find something to laugh about—even if it was his own jokes.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. William Berkery, his numerous caregivers for their amazing kindness, his Firekeepers family, and the Ruston’s girls, whose support meant so much to him.
Calling hours will be held on January 18, 2025, from10:00 AM to noon at Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home in LaFayette, followed by a graveside service at Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Green Beret Foundation or Hospice of CNY.
Mathew Reynolds leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. His memory will be cherished by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
