Mary Anne Rico Gallardo

Mary Anne Rico Gallardo, a woman whose life was defined by love, faith, and generosity, passed away peacefully at her home in Mesa, Arizona, on December 25, 2024. Surrounded by her devoted family, Mary Anne left this world at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that will be cherished for generations. 

Born in Yuma, AZ. to Eleanor Miranda on April 17, 1943.  Mary Anne dedicated her life to her family and faith. She was the beloved wife to Salvador Chavez Gallardo, of 64 years. She shared a beautiful life with seven children. She is survived by her children: Arthur (Rhonda) Gallardo, Pete (Veronica) Gallardo, MaryAnn (Derrick) Johnson, Joann (Tony) Hernandez, and Sylvia Gallardo. She was preceded in death by her dear children, Pearl Marie Gallardo and Stephen Gallardo, whom she has now reunited with in heaven. 

Mary Anne's life was enriched by the joy of being a grandmother to 16 and a great-grandmother to 22. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often showing her love through her passion for cooking and crocheting. Every recipe she perfected, and every intricate crochet piece she created reflected her meticulous care and the love she poured into everything she did. 

A dedicated teacher in Mesa Schools for many years, Mary Anne touched the lives of countless students with her gentle guidance and patience. Her colleagues and students admired her orderly and meticulous nature, which extended into every aspect of her life. 

A devoted Catholic, Mary Anne lived her faith daily, embodying compassion, humility, and devotion. She found great comfort and joy in her community and her unwavering belief in the power of prayer. 

Mary Anne’s family will remember her as a woman of grace, strength, and love who always made time to brighten the lives of those around her. Her beautiful smile and tender heart were gifts to all who knew her. 

The family invites those who loved Mary Anne to celebrate her remarkable life, where her warmth, wisdom, and faith will be honored and her legacy of love remembered. 

Mary Anne's service will be held at 10:00 AM on January 17, 2025, at Queen of Heaven, located at 1562 E. Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85204. A luncheon will immediately follow at Pearl's Banquet Hall, 1455 S. Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ 85204.
