Edward Elton Olson, 91, of Wheat Ridge, CO passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024 at Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, CO from complications of pneumonia. Edward Elton Olson {Ole} was born in Elizabeth, CO at the home of a midwife who delivered him on June 6th, 1933 to Lillie Urania Olson and Reuben Benjamin Olson. Ole was raised on the family Homestead that was established on March 3, 1888, by his Grandfather, Oloff Olson and Great Uncle Andy Olson in Ramah, CO. It was on this homestead, where he developed a hard work ethic, and learned the importance of serving his family and neighbors. He was the fourth of 5 children.
Ole Graduated from Kiowa Consolidated High School in Kiowa, CO in 1952 as Valedictorian of his class. He was allowed by the school board, of which his father, Reuben was a part of, to drive the students to school both his Junior and Senior years of High School.
Ole worked at the Kiowa Super Ette grocery store after Graduation and drove the students home on the bus before and after school each day, while also on the draft list.
Drafted to the Army during the Korean War in 1953 and served through 1955 active duty. After which he fulfilled the remaining obligation in the Army Reserve. After Basic Training at Camp Pickett Ole received 8 weeks of Medic Schooling, where he graduated Valedictorian in a class of 300. He served as an Army Medic at Camp Ft. Carson Army Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO for 2 years. He was Honorably Discharged as a Private First Class. He went back to work in Kiowa, CO at the grocery store until 1956.
In 1957 Ole Graduated from Rocky Mountain Technical Institute in Denver, CO where he was educated in TV/Radio and Industrial Electronics. Ole worked for Martin Marietta where he was the Senior Lab Tech in the development and testing of Titan III Missel Launch Equipment., and carried a Radio Telephone Operator License. This Education provided a long career working for Accommodating TV as a service technician in Wheat Ridge, CO. He also worked for Sunstrand Aviation Corp., Howard Steele Radio & TV and K&K Appliance & T.V. Service.
Ole followed politics closely, was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed bowling, cross-word puzzles, long leisure car drives, and attending his extended family's activities. Ole was known to drink coffee with cake donuts, burnt cookies, and one of every kind or pie served at Holidays. Ole was a no-nonsense, practical, intellectual. A Common Sense man who lived within his means, and lacked for nothing. He took care of his belongings, and was able to repair and maintain that which he owned.
Ole was an honest, dependable, reliable, and hard working individual. He was a caretaker by nature, and cared for several family and friends over the years,.as well as a handful of them in his home in their old age.. Ole had a servants heart! His extensive family loved him dearly, and he will be greatly missed by all!
