Thomas Frederick Lutzen
April 7th, 1934 - January 10th, 2025
On Jan 10, 2025, Thomas F. Lutzen, loving father, husband and grandfather passed away at the age of 90 surrounded by family. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, he is finally at peace with the Lord and reunited with his wife Beverly of 64 years.
Tom was born on April 7, 1934, in Bronx, NY. He joined the Marines in 1954 and served as a Staff Sargent and was stationed in Korea, Okinawa and Europe and earned a National Defense Service medal.
While serving in the Marines he met his wife, Beverly and they were married in Rome, Italy in 1958. They went back to the states to Camp Lejune where he was stationed and started their family and raised 4 children (Deb, Susan, Scott and Julie). After his service, Tom became a Postal Inspector for the United States Postal Service. The family lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Virginia and retired in Florida.
Tom enjoyed tennis, bike riding, playing guitar, music and ballroom dancing. He loved the ocean and was a huge Packer and Steeler’s fan.
He and Beverly enjoyed traveling to Europe, China, Australia and several islands.
Tom was always the life of the party and lived life to the fullest. He was viewed by everyone who met him as a true gentleman and will be remembered for his acts of kindness.
Tom was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and creating many family traditions. Family vacations included the Pocono Mountains, Niagara Falls, Disney, Arizona and spending summers in Seaside Heights
He will be remembered for his kind heart, his faith and the love for his family and his passion for helping others.
He is survived by his 4 children Deborah (Pat) Kemp, Susan Lutzen (Barb Springstroh), Scott Lutzen and Julie Sherwin and his 3 grandchildren Dan Kemp, Jamie Kemp and Hailey Wallschlaeger. He is loved beyond measure and will be missed but will always hold a special place in our hearts.
There will be a private family service at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or Muscular Dystrophy Association.
A huge thank you to the entire staff of Aravilla of Sarasota in Sarasota Florida for the wonderful care he received as he battled Alzheimer’s.
RIP Dad, we will miss you so much and will keep your love in our hearts forever.
