In Loving Memory Of

The Goss family experienced the true meaning of love through the life of Patricia Louise (Coup) Goss, 93. While she ended her earthly journey in Palm Bay, FL, she was always a Kansas farm girl at heart.

Patricia grew up like many farming families in the 1930s-40s, sharing her home in the many small towns of Kansas with her five siblings: Vera Luthi (1970), Jeanne Lundin of Manhattan, KS, Faye Yantz (2018), Mid Hanson of Abilene, KS, and John Coup (2022). Her parents, Iva and Roy Coup, eventually settled in Talmage, KS, where Patricia embraced the farm-girl life—complete with a pony named Topsy, which she would ride to the bus stop every morning.

Later, Patricia worked in the cafeteria of a one-room schoolhouse, mastering the many casseroles she would someday prepare for her large family. In her 20s, while working in the office at the Fort Riley military base, she caught the eye of many soldiers who passed through. But only one handsome man captured her heart. It was then that Patricia became the recipient of the most genuine kind of love that has ever existed—in the arms of Russell P. Goss, Jr. (2023).

Pat and Russ went on to share a life together that spanned seven decades. Their love story was one for the ages, a bond that transcended generations. Their children—Terry Goss, Sheree (Gary) McDonald, Kevin (Sendi) Goss, Scott Goss, and Corey Goss—carried forward their parents’ legacy of love to their own families, including grandchildren: Heather (Todd) Gookin, Ryan Goss, Brittney McDonald, Sean (Lynn) McDonald, Chad McDonald, Kody (Arianna) Goss, Shay Goss, and Jade Goss; great-grandchildren: Dylon (Bre Duffy) Gookin, Abigail Gookin, Kate Gookin, Malory Goss, Grayson Goss, Brooke McDonald, Corey McDonald, and Ethan McDonald; and a soon-to-be great-great-granddaughter, expected this year. With each marriage and new arrival, their family blossomed, and they joyfully embraced every single addition as a cherished child, grandchild, or great-grandchild.

After living a life fuller than she could have ever imagined, Patricia was ushered into heaven with the rising sun on January 8, 2025, with her daughter, Sheree, by her bedside. She was greeted by a joyous welcome committee, including her parents Roy and Iva, her sisters Vera and Faye, her brother John, her sons Kevin and Corey, many overly fed and well-loved pups, and her forever-devoted husband, Russie.

Services will be held at Danner Funeral Home (501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410) on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1PM. Immediately following, Patricia will be laid to rest for all eternity beside her husband, Russ, at Prairiedale Cemetery in Talmage, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society in honor of Corey Goss, Patricia and Russell’s son. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Danner Funeral Home, 501 N. Buckeye, Abilene, Kansas 67410. Online condolences may be sent to www.dannerfuneralhome.net.
