C Wayne Hill
July 24th, 1952 - January 9th, 2025
Carroll Wayne Hill, affectionately known as "Wayne" or "Kingfish," passed away on January 9, 2025, in Port Royal, South Carolina. He was born on July 24, 1952, in Lake City, South Carolina, to Claude Ronder Hill and Dorothy Smith Hill.
Wayne spent his formative years in Clio, South Carolina, before attending the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He later established himself in North Myrtle Beach, where he built a successful career in real estate development. His work played a meaningful role in shaping the community he called home for so many years.
Outside of his career, Wayne was an avid fisherman and sport caster. He was happiest on the water and could often be found surf fishing along the Carolina coasts. In his younger years, Wayne frequently participated in king mackerel fishing tournaments. He was also a founder of Carolina Surf Casters Association, where he helped preserve the surf casting sport through competitions. When he didn't have a rod and reel in his hand, Wayne loved to watch college football to root for the Carolina Gamecocks.
Wayne is survived by his two children, Erica Hill and Amanda Hill; his brother, Ronnie Hill; and his grandson, Enzo Sternbach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Wayne by casting out a line in his memory.
A celebration of life for Wayne will be held at Locals on the Water in North Myrtle Beach on Sunday, January 26 from 3-5pm.
