With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Harold “Bradey” Link, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, who departed this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, age 87, at Wellmore of Lexington.

Son of the late James Clinton Link and Emily Callie Bradey Link, he was born on November 16, 1937, in the French Huguenot community of Bordeaux, McCormick County, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Clinton Link, his brother James Bradey Link, and his sister-in-law, Beneva Howard Link.

Bradey attended John de la Howe School in McCormick, SC through 9th grade and transferred to McCormick High School to complete his High School degree in 1955. He furthered his education at Clemson College and began a career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation in Seneca, SC.  He later transferred to Anderson County and Greenville County where he served as a Construction Engineer and District Maintenance Engineer, and ended his career in Columbia, SC as Director of Right of Way for the state.  After retirement he worked as a Project Manager for PAN, Inc., his son David’s right of way consulting firm.

Bradey never met a stranger and enjoyed his relationships with peers, co-workers, and the public figures he dealt with daily. He genuinely enjoyed listening to others and learning about them, both professionally and personally.

Bradey was an avid reader and could converse knowledgeably on many topics.  He enjoyed talking and telling his stories of earlier years to his children, grandchildren and friends.  He enjoyed music and could entertain himself playing his guitar, ukulele, banjo and harmonica.  His love for hunting and fishing were two of his favorite pastimes, and he trained many bird dogs over the years who were loyal companions.

Bradey was a member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington SC.  He shared in teaching the Prime Timers Sunday School Class, attended the Men’s Tuesday luncheons, Wednesday night bible studies and was an active member of the Caring Connections Senior Group.

Prior to Saxe Gotha, Bradey attended Congaree Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Mariners group. He humbly and faithfully served the Lord and his faith was unwavering.

Bradey is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Carolyn Stevenson Link, sons, Marcus Bradey Link, David Stevenson Link (Tammy), Clinton Wesley Link (Katie), daughters Susan Alyssa Link, and Julie Link Hunt (Dale); grandchildren Jennifer Link Schwabe (Wolfrum), Zachary B. Link, Haley P. Lucas (Daniel), Julianna S. Smith (Coven), Mary Carolyne Pipkin, Anne Marie Hunt, Cullen D. Hunt, Bradey M. Link and James C.
