Jeffrey Todd McGinley
September 26th, 1961 - January 13th, 2025
Jeffrey T. McGinley, Age 63, of Scottsbluff, NE, passed away peacefully on January 13 in the presence of his wife of 37 years. A proud veteran and devoted family man, Jeff’s life was marked by his unwavering commitment to service, his deep faith, and his generous, caring spirit.
Jeff served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. His dedication to his country was only surpassed by his devotion to his family. On June 6, 1987, he married the love of his life, Terri L. (Hukle) McGinley. Together, they raised two sons, Mitch and Jared, who were the pride of his life.
After retiring from the Air Force, Jeff continued to serve his community, retiring on December 30, 2023 from his role as the Aviation Contracting Branch Chief for the U.S. Forest Service. He was known for his integrity, kindness, and ability to lead with a calm and positive demeanor.
Jeff’s heart for others extended beyond his work. He was a loving and patient husband and father, always putting others before himself. His faith in Jesus was the foundation of his life, always serving in ways that used his particular talents.
A man of many passions, Jeff was a prolific black belt in Tae Kwon Do, an active member of the Mountain Home Ham Radio Club, and at one time was a Cub Scout Leader. Known as the “unofficial IT guy” at nearly every job he held, he had a knack for solving problems, and, before the age of cellphones, he was a human phone book - always able to remember many of the numbers on the base.
Jeff was also an avid tinkerer, building a large garage practically by himself, and his mechanical expertise with anything that had a motor was unsurpassed. He loved dirt bikes, guns, science fiction, and was a proud Trekker.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Terri; sons Mitch and Jared; father, Frank Byron McGinley and his wife, Kathy; brother, Byron “Mac” McGinley; and numerous extended family and friends who will miss his kindness, humor, and willingness to always lend a hand. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta (Huber) McGinley and his brother, Steve Curtis McGinley.
A celebration of Jeff’s life was held on Saturday, at 3:00 p.m., at Rost Funeral Home.
Jeff’s legacy of service, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rost Funeral Home
As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
