Susan Elizabeth Coviello
May 15th, 1949 - January 29th, 2025
Susan E. Coviello, 75, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospital following a brief illness.
Born on May 15, 1949, to the late Thomas and Doris Buckley, Susan was a lifelong resident of Syracuse. She graduated from Corcoran High School before continuing her education at Onondaga Community College and the University of Akron.
Susan had a passion for reading mystery and romance novels and found joy in traveling to new places. She was an enthusiastic supporter of women’s sports, particularly enjoying LPGA tournaments and NCAA women’s basketball games. Above all else, Susan cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Michael Coviello; her daughter, Carrie Coviello-Walsh (Steve) of Syracuse; her sisters, Janet Chittenden (Richard) of Holt, MI and Julie Hatakeyama (Terry) of Schaumburg, IL; her brother, Thomas C. Buckley (Elaine) of Locust Grove, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Maureen Leone.
Susan will be remembered for the love she shared with those around her and the joy she brought to their lives.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 4th from 10 AM to 12 PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13205. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
Contributions, in lieu of flowers may be made to Catholic Charities of Onondaga County, 1654 West Onondaga Street, Syracuse NY 13204.
