Mary Lee (Scott) Morrell, 89, passed away on January 26 after a long struggle with dementia.

Mary Lee was born in Spokane Washington on January 6, 1936 to Dr. Russell T. and Grace Scott. She was raised in Lewiston, Idaho and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1954 and went on to graduate from the University of Oregon in 1958, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Robert H. Morrell, they moved to Washington DC where he attended medical school, and she supported them by teaching 3rd grade in Silver Spring MD.  

The family moved frequently during Robert’s medical training, living in both Boise and the Seattle area, finally returning and settling in Boise in 1969, where Mom she devoted herself to raising their three children. 

Always active as a volunteer, Mary Lee was a long-time P.E.O. and Junior League member, and served on the Altar Guild at St. Michael’s Cathedral for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert H. Morrell, her brother Russell T. Scott Jr, of Bryn Mawr PA and her daughter Suzanne Morrell of Lehi UT..  She leaves behind her children W. Scott Morrell and his wife Maribel Morrell (Boise);  Steven H. Morrell and his wife Kristy Morrell (Waco, TX), grandchildren Ashley Morrell, James (Amber) Morrell, Elisabeth Morrell, Russell Morrell, Savannah Millard, and Delaney Millard, and a great granddaughter Shay Morrell.  

The family expresses enormous gratitude to the Terraces of Boise where Mary Lee received the very best of care at the end of her life. 

A private burial service will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery.
