David G. Backus
December 25th, 1954 - January 31st, 2025
Palmer-David G. Backus, 70, passed away January 31, 2025 at Holyoke Medical Center. Born in Palmer, MA on December 25, 1954, he was the son of George and Margaret C. (Denning) Backus. David lived his entire life in Palmer and proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He worked for over 30 years at the former TVA Electronics in Ware as a technician. David loved being outdoors and fishing. He was an active member in the American Legion Post 130. David is survived by his wife, Stella (Haluch) of Palmer, his two sons, William and his wife Bethany of Brookfield and Jonathan and Dazaray of Barre. David also leaves his sister, Kathy Chaffee of Palmer along with grandchildren, Loralie, Jameson, Everett, Wesson, Logan and Zelda Backus. Visitation will be Thursday, February 13 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial with military honors will be at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at 1pm. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the American Legion Post 241, 143 Palmer Rd. Monson, MA 01057
