Lance Eric Marbut November 22, 1963 †" January 10, 2021 On January 10, 2021, Lance Marbut, loving husband and father to three children, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 57. Lance was born on November 22, 1963, in Chula Vista, California, to Mike and Carol (Springer) Marbut. The family moved to Missoula, Montana, when Lance was young and it was there that he grew up. Lance graduated from Sentinel High School as part of the class of 1981, and enlisted in the United States Air Force in February 1982. While stationed in Germany, Lance met and married his ï¬�rst wife, Sandi, and they welcomed their son, Michael. In 1991, he married Ramee, and added a daughter, Amanda, and another son, John, to his family. During his military career, Lance worked as an avionics technician on the F-16 aircraft and later on the flight test team for the CV-22 Osprey. He went on to become a ï¬�rst sergeant in his ï¬�nal military years and retired in February 2008 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Duty stations included Nevada, Germany, Florida, Alaska, California, and Japan. Following his military service, Lance worked for the US Bureau of Reclamation, ï¬�rst in Boulder City, Nevada, then in Denver, Colorado. He retired from the BOR in November 2019. Lance enjoyed being outdoors and his interests included ï¬�shing, hunting, golï¬�ng, running, cycling, and riding his motorcycle. He also had a taste for ï¬�ne cigars and a good glass of scotch or bourbon. He was known for his sly wit, wisdom, and kind spirit. He was ï¬�rm and faithful in his belief in God and inspired many during his ï¬�nal years spent struggling with the effects of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig†™s Disease). Lance is survived by his wife, Ramee; his three children, Michael Marbut of Boston, Massachusetts; Amanda (Kyle) Black of Springfield, Missouri; and John Marbut of St. Louis, Missouri; his father and stepmother, Mike and Babe Marbut, of Missoula, Montana; mother, Carol (Springer) Summers, also of Missoula; sister, Wendi Biggs of Mountain Home, Idaho; and two grandchildren, Malakai and Christa. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021, at Bear Valley Church, 10001 West Jewell Avenue, in Lakewood, Colorado. Viewing will be begin one hour prior to the service. In-person attendees are reminded that masks are required to be worn while in the building. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association. Burial will take place in a private service at the Missoula County Veteran†™s Cemetery in Missoula at a later date.
