Jennings "Jack" Bryan Bowman, Jr.
December 13th, 1934 - February 3rd, 2025
Entered into rest February 3, 2025, Jennings Bryan Bowman, Jr. (Jack) was born on December 13, 1934 in Augusta, Georgia.
He was a graduate of Truett McConnell University, earning his AA degree. He then enlisted in the US Navy and served as a Radioman 3rd Class, traveling to Morocco, Lebanon and Italy. Once discharged, he earned his BA in Journalism from the University of Georgia and married Claire M. Bowman. After college, they moved to Mobile, Alabama where he began working for Sears Roebuck Company. A couple of years later he transferred to Ocala, Florida with them as the Advertising and Promotions Manager. After 12 years with Sears he worked at various companies, eventually settling at Skipper’s Office Supply where he was involved in advertising and furniture sales. In 1996, he retired to a life of leisure.
Jack was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala where he served as a Deacon and loved singing in the choir. He was an amateur Ham radio operator, avid reader, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and listening to music, including his favorite 40’s & 50’s pop music, Christian hymns, Gospel and Classical.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Claire M. Bowman, his parents Jennings B. and Lola M. Bowman, and his siblings Reverend Gene T. Bowman, William B. Moody and Audrey J. Sanders.
He is survived by his brother Reverend Robert A. Bowman, his son Bryan and grandson Porter of Raleigh, North Carolina and daughter Andrea of Orlando, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
